What do you wish your life could be like?  How can you live the absolute highest life possible?  Most people will tell you that they have at least one wish or desire to change something about their life. Problem is, not many do anything about it.  The number of people who don’t make any type of move to change even one thing about their life is sad. Why?  What keeps us from doing what it takes to live better? One of the main reasons for not attaining goals required to change is often lack of motivation.

There are some people who would say this is a lack of effort as opposed to a lack of motivation. To be real, it’s probably a lack of both.  But, in order to make an effort, you have to get motivated; that is the momentum needed.  Once you encourage yourself and get pumped, then the next step is to take a look at some reasons why you don’t put the effort into making a lifestyle change. Review these and do the opposite!

Reasons You Don't Make Changes:

  1. No real reason why. In order to make any type of change in your life you need to have a good reason to do so. Having a goal is wonderful but the reason you have to reach that goal is probably more important.  If you want to change your job then you need to have a reason for doing so, reasons could include; wanting more money, to move to a new location or for more opportunities. Some call it your ‘why’. Why are you pushing so hard at your job, school or whatever.  What drives you?  Once you determine that, you are motivated.
  2. Setting too large of a goal. Weight loss is a perfect example here. If you need to lose 70 pounds don’t focus on losing it all at one time. Don’t focus on the 70 pounds. Instead if you set smaller goals of 7 pounds per month you will find that you can stay on track better. If you meet this goal faster than one month, that is awesome, then just keep on going. If you are struggling or lose a little less then don’t give up, just refocus and set your next monthly goal, perhaps at 5 pounds.
  3.   No vision. Not having a vision of what you want is a guaranteed way to remain demotivated. This is why it is so important keeping track of your goals. This can be done in various ways depending upon your desire. If your goal is to lose weight, then keep photos and images of your progress. If it is another type of goal, then keep a journal or blog of your journey. This way you can see what you are struggling with and what you are accomplishing. Write the vision and make it plain!
  4. No support network is another reason why many people don’t make the effort to change their lives. Getting the support from family and friends can really make a world of difference to your goals. It is so good to have an accountability partner; someone who will hold your ‘feet to the fire’.
