Determine The Best Way To Help Your Target Audience
Time to take it one step further. Now that you know what you’re good at and you know who you want to help, let’s refine that a little more. What will be the best way to serve your target audience?
For example, if you’re planning on helping seniors with their computer skills, an online course probably isn’t the way to go. Instead, you want to connect with them in person as that would be most beneficial. Maybe that means teaching a class at your local community center. Or maybe that means heading to an assisted living facility. It all depends on the needs of the people you’re serving.
I find it helpful to start looking at where these people are already. If you’re going to work with kids who are in school, the first choice may be to look into an after-school program that allows you to meet with them at the school, right after class ends. Or, if you want to, you could go to a recreation center where children hang out, such as the Boys and Girls Club. Volunteers are always welcomed there.
If that’s not an option, talk to them and see if meeting a few hours after school at the school gym, the church, or a meeting room at the library is a viable option.
Or maybe it means renting an office and building an entire business around your calling. That may take some time and a lot of extra planning and finances, but you won’t know what it takes to make this work until you know what you and your “audience” need. What are you willing to do to help others and fulfill your purpose?
Remember, I believe in you and know you will find the right path!
